After co-directing a larger company, I made the move to re-brand my first company, Leading By Design to become a smaller, local and more bespoke Architectural Design company. Retaining my design staff was key to making this work effectively but still, and as any other small business owners out there know, a scary time with unknown sales, costs and a unpredicatble market.
There is a certain joy however in launching yourself into the creative side of designing and building a new brand. Logo design, Website, Social media pages, letterheads, emails...The list of items to create goes on and on. Juggling that with the accounting side and visiting new potential clients to build sales becomes an exciting prospect. It certainly helps when you have good people around you to assist and suggest things you may not have thought about.
Embrace those suggestions as anyone in Marketing will tell you, the small business owner, can't do everything. Working on in business is different to working in the business.
